It doesn’t matter one jot what the bank balance of the patient says, everyone is treated without fear of payments and treated without profit motive.

However, this is now under threat. Under the Coalition and Conservative Government, our NHS has been opened up to competition. In 2013, the Conservatives sold off our blood plasma supply to a US company Bain Capital which then sold it on to a Chinese company.

Now we hear the Tories have been negotiating with the Trump administration and the NHS is on the table. American drug companies want longer patents which will raise prices and challenge the financial sustainability of the NHS meaning tax rises, higher prescription charges or cutbacks to services and access to certain medicines.

This election is a final chance to save our NHS.

🔴 Labour will make personal social care free at the point of use as the first part of building a new National Care Service to sit alongside the NHS

🔴 Labour will end the hostile environment measures and let NHS workers get on with serving the public instead of acting as border agents

🔴 Labour will create a new publicly-owned generic drugs manufacturer to supply the NHS with lower cost drugs and will reform the patenting system to tackle rip-off pharma companies who try to hold the NHS to ransom like Vertex tried with their cystic fibrosis drugs recently
