Great morning visiting local horse racing trainer, Andrew Balding and his dad Ian Balding. Very kind of him to give us a full tour seeing the hard work that is put in behind the scenes by so many people!
Horse racing has always been huge for the West Berkshire economy. As your Member of Parliament, I would support the horse racing community, especially independent yards.
It was interesting talking to Andrew about how much of horse racing is not elitist. The people working at Andrew’s yard are passionate, talented and come from all walks of life. However, there is currently a problem with recruiting staff in horse racing.
I would prioritise regulating the big gambling companies so profit doesn’t go offshore, but rather is reinvested into things like apprenticeship schemes for those working at racing yards which will create more opportunities and jobs for West Berkshire’s young people.
This is a campaign for the people of West Berkshire!
