We want to focus on public services for residents in Tilehurst and promise we will be a powerful voice on the Council Dr Liz Bell and Charlie Croal
Dr Liz Bell and Charlie Croal

Charlie has served as a Holybrook Parish Councillor since 2008 and is currently Chair of the Community Environment Committee. Charlie now wishes to step up and represent local residents at District Council level. He has arranged two community litter picks in the last year in his role as Chair of Community and Environment and  will be chairing a meeting on Mon 17th April  to discuss the recent parish residents survey. Charlie has ensured that 20mph speed limits and parking permit schemes are on the agenda.

Liz is a school governor and former Parish Councillor in Great Shefford, and the editor who pulled together Great Shefford’s Parish Plan. She has worked in policy, public affairs and international development for many years. Liz has a PhD in Science and Technology Policy from Aston University Business School. She stood for Tilehurst and Purley in 2019 and is proud to be Charlie’s partner candidate in Tilehurst South and Holybrook.

Together they want to focus on public services for residents in Tilehurst and believe they will be a powerful voice on the council.

They both feel that this area falls below the radar of the Newbury based District Council. Much more can be done for Calcot and Tilehurst, but locals are being fobbed off with the usual excuse – suggesting they travel to Reading to use facilities. Other concerns include the amount of development near to Junction 12 of the A4 and the lack of new local infrastructure.

Charlie and Liz are concerned about Linear Park and believe it needs safeguarding against future development by being adopted as a community asset.
