“As a Councillor I will work extremely hard for the residents of Thatcham and ensure that your voice is not lost, but heard loud and clear! “ Gary Huntley - Labour candidate for Thatcham Central
Gary Huntley - Labour candidate for Thatcham Central

Gary is a former Postal Trade Union Area Rep and has actively supported Labour from a very young age. His father was a Labour Councillor for Reading and Berkshire County Councillor during the 70’s. Some of his earliest memories of politics was helping out during election time and he has proud memories of his family supporting the Miners strike during the 70’s by offering them food and accommodation.

Gary is also a qualified UEFA B Football coach and was a founder member and Chairman of Berkshires largest all girls club, Reading Girls F.C. He was also one of the initial coaches responsible for the creation of Reading F.C. Girls Academy. Gary has been happily married for 32 years and is the proud father of three and Grandfather to one.

Like the majority of us, he is exasperated by the current state of the government and believes we need a complete change in policy.

Labour can and will deliver the changes that we so desperately need. Better and affordable housing for our children and an NHS that will deliver the service required by all of us. Schools that are sufficiently funded and a Police service that can operate in sufficient numbers.

The Conservatives are the Party of savage cuts and the Liberals have proved to be supporters of the Austerity party.

The only real opposition to the Conservatives is Labour. With my fellow colleagues we will pledge to represent each and every one of you. There are many important future developments in Thatcham and we will ensure that your concerns are heard. We will not allow proposals to be railroaded through.

Secure and affordable housing is important to many young families today. It is essential for the community and I will be applying pressure on local housing associations to reinstate longer leases so that families can lay down some roots and avoid the uncertainty of short term leases.

We also need to ensure that our Schools are properly funded and that adult healthcare does not experience any more punitive cuts.

“As a Councillor I will work extremely hard for the residents of Thatcham and ensure that your voice is not lost, but heard loud and clear!”
