My name is Mathew, I'm 23 years old and a Newbury local. Having studied at Newbury's Park House School for my GCSE's and A-Levels I grew up wanting to offer more to my community.I joined the Labour party back in 2019 whilst I was studying my BA in Politics and International Relations at the University of Hull because I wanted to support a party whose values aligned with my own. I would describe my politics as moderate and most aligned to social democratic ideology which were shaped from my background and my experience studying abroad in Denmark where I was able to experience social democratic policies first-hand.Since then I have had an array of experiences from internships with Charities & Think Tanks and recent work experience as a Policy & Public Affairs Officer for an adult social care charity. I am currently completing my PGCE as an trainee secondary school English teacher and I look forward to contributing my skills and experiences to the running of our local party.I am optimistic about the opportunities the Labour party have in Newbury and hope to continue the work we are doing locally to offer the people of Newbury and West Berks the opportunity of Labour leadership in both local and national Government.
