James Wilder - Vice Chair (Membership) / Social Media and Communciations Officer

James was born and raised in Thatcham, proudly attending Kennet School. After achieving a first class honours degree at the University of Bath in BA Sport and Social Sciences, he returned to be a teacher of History and Politics at Park House School in Newbury. James also sits on the Advisory Board for an Olympic legacy charity, Spirit of 2012 which funds community based projects around the country.

After joining the Labour Party in 2015, James has been Youth Officer, Digital and Communications Officer and Vice Chair of the CLP. In 2019, James had the honour of being Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Newbury. He led an inspiring and energetic campaign that put the issues of West Berkshire first.

As he takes on the role of Vice Chair once again, James seeks to mobilise and engage more young people to join the movement in Newbury. James is passionate about overcoming the barriers that prevent people from becoming all they are capable of becoming. He is especially driven to improve educational standards for young people and fight against the devastating cuts to public services in West Berkshire which clip the wings of our generation.
