Policy Officer / Campaign Co-ordinator (Shared role)
Julie is by background an occupational therapist and academic. Her interests are mental health and healthcare practice ethics. She is particularly concerned about the ways in which new, often hidden, forms of privatisation are pervading and disrupting every aspect of the social contract, particularly in health and education but increasingly in all apsects of our lives. She believes Labour’s commitment to the NHS and to a National Education Service are defining issues.
As a committed remainer Julie campaigned positively to influence Labour’s policy and continues to be appalled by the reckless Tory Brexit ahead of us. A lifelong Trade Unionist and member of the University and College Union (UCU), Julie worked as a caseworker for many years and would encourage local Trade Unionists to become much more involved and active in Newbury CLP. In her roles of Policy Officer and Co-Campaign Coordinator, Julie’s goals are to democratise the CLP and to support more radical and interesting approaches to member voice and engagement. We are many, and at our best when building trust in our party to become the next Labour Government.
