Julie Wintrup
Treasurer
Julie is an occupational therapist and academic by background, with interests in mental health and healthcare ethics. She is particularly concerned about the ways in which new forms of privatisation are pervading and disrupting every aspect of the social contract, particularly in health and education but increasingly in all apsects of our lives. She believes Labour’s commitment to the NHS and to a National Education Service ought to be seen by voters as defining issues, and as a committed remainer is reassured by Labour’s consistent opposition to a hard Tory Brexit.
As a lifelong Trade Unionist and member of the University and College Union (UCU) and Unison, Julie has worked as a caseworker for many years and would encourage local Trade Unionists to become much more involved and active in Newbury CLP. In her role as Treasurer, Julie’s goal is to democratise governance of the CLP beginning with shared decision making around how we generate and make use of our resources.
