"council cuts to early intervention services is short sighted, ultimately costing the taxpayer more as crisis services take their place" Charlotte Blackman - Labour Candidate for Ridgeway
Charlotte Blackman has been selected to stand as the Labour candidate for Ridgeway in the West Berkshire Council elections on May 2nd.
Previously working in the private sector, Charlotte returned to university to study a Master’s in Social Work because she was frustrated at seeing unaddressed social issues in the local community. Charlotte has lived in West Berkshire for nearly 5 years, with her partner and a menagerie of pets. She has become an increasingly active member of the Labour party in the last year.
Having worked in social care and a charity setting, Charlotte has witnessed the devastating impact of social inequality across West Berkshire and is passionate about reducing this, improving access to opportunities/services for all. Charlotte believes that the council cuts to early intervention services is short sighted, ultimately costing the taxpayer more as crisis services take their place. This also has a disproportionate impact on the most vulnerable members of our society, something that Charlotte is keen to advocate against.
