“it is inexcusable that there is any rough sleeping in one of the wealthiest regions in western Europe" Paul Pugh - Labour Candidate for Hungerford & Kintbury
Paul has lived in Newbury for over 15 years and works as a freelance programme manager in the Telecommunications and Government sectors. He has two children at university who have benefited from West Berkshire’s excellent state schools but he became aware in the last years of their schooling of the rapid deterioration in education provision as a result of Conservative party policy.
The homelessness issue in Newbury is of great concern to Paul and he is in the process of volunteering for one of the local homelessness shelters.
He says “it is inexcusable that there is any rough sleeping in one of the wealthiest regions in western Europe, particularly since it is proven that it is more cost effective to house the homeless than leave them on the streets.” If elected, Paul is looking forward to using his management and procurement skills to end the Conservative lead council’s financial mismanagement and woeful record on contract tendering.
